What is the actual gas mileage of a Honda Civic Hybrid?

Recently acquired a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid with automatic transmission. All the manuals say they are supposed to get 47 city and 48 mpg highway. We are getting less. Any idea why and what has been your experience with gasoline consumption and other things about the Honda Civic Hybrid? We would like to hear from any Honda Civic Hybrid owners. Thanks

All estimates of the EPA generated a very natural way, which is basically a dynomometer in a laboratory. They are ideal numbers under ideal circumstances. Most cars do not usually reach figures as their EPA estimates in all of them unless you drive very deliberately with the goal of fuel economy of all vehicles time.The only thing I've seen regularly meet or exceed their EPA estimates are modern direct injection diesel engines. I suspect that is a function of diesel engines when it comes to natural superiority flexibility and efficiency and the fact that diesel engines can vary its air / fuel ratio more than gasoline engines can, in response to the load. The Hybrids are particularly disappointing when it comes to living up to the hype of the EPA estimates. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that the type of driving and the workload of the electric motor is doing can vary widely. This is especially true in the system of Toyota, the gasoline engine actually shuts off sometimes. Want to check your owners manual for tips on driving fuel economy, make sure your tires are properly inflated and use only the full synthetic motor oil. They have all the things going for you, then see what kind of results you get.
